As with her previous work, Kristin Oppenheim continues her investigation of sound and perception as they relate to personal memories and experience. In her upcoming exhibition, the gallery is filled with waves of rhythm. Her voice, repeating a chant in a soothing manner, surrounds and merges with the viewer. A sensory space is created that is separate from the physical gallery. Within this space the viewer is swept into a loss of the self through the symmetry and endlessness of the work. Yet this piece of sonoric sculpture disappears even as it is perceived leaving one to reconstruct it only in reflection.
