LPE is delighted to present Tomorrow’s Sculpture, an installation by German artist Katinka Bock which was specifically created for the garden and will be displayed from June 2014 until November 2015. Made possible thanks to Friends of La Petite Escalère, the installation of this sculpture is the third of a series of annual events dedicated to modern and contemporary sculpture at LPE.

Tomorrow’s Sculpture is composed of two bronze and ceramic figures joined together by a metallic beam: two bodies carrying the horizon and telling us, through this “pas de deux”, about the adventure of this private garden. This installation is also an architectural opening within the landscape and thus offers a new perspective and understanding of it.

Katinka Bock has chosen to install her work in the wet prairie land of the « Moura ». This huge open space is partly located on La Petite Escalère and used to be a peat bog.  It offers a rich and vulnerable biodiversity and plays an essential role in the water cycle of the “Barthes”. The installation stayed at La Petite Escalère for a year and a half, time for it to evolve with the seasons, colors and different types of vegetation. It now thus bears the marks of time, nature, and of the place which inspired it.

The work left for a solo show of the artist at the Kunstmuseum de Bern in February 2016. It will return to the garden in 2017 to be installed in a different location and enter the collection for good.
