Marina Pinsky examines the way in which we can read images as material, spatial, and ideological models of the world. Using photography to untangle and reify codes of representation, Pinsky mixes digital and analog techniques, establishing a relational mode between virtual and physical worlds. Pinsky's working method involves creating objects and scenarios specifically to be photographed, as well as sculptural work to be presented in dialogue with traditional photographs. Her work has been shown in prestigious institutions including the Vleeshal, Middelburg, Netherlands; the Museum of Modern Art, New York; Hammer Museum, Los Angeles; and the National Gallery of Kosovo. Her work was included in the 13th Biennale de Lyon in 2015, while ‘Dyed Channel’, a solo presentation, opened at Kunsthalle Basel in 2016. Born in Russia, Pinsky currently lives and works in Berlin.
