Baby Dinosaur (Apatosaurus), a large-scale sculpture by Los Angeles-based artist Matt Johnson, is a sixteen-foot long by ten-foot tall model of an Apatosaurus dinosaur created using sections of salvaged old-growth Californian redwood, which, crucially to the artist, is one of the contemporary subspecies of trees that coexisted with dinosaurs. The familiar child-size dinosaur toy puzzle is enlarged to the approximate scale of an actual child dinosaur, blurring the boundary between toys and museum displays.
