Valentin Carron uses the figure of the serpent as a representation of our most primitive fears. His double-headed snakes exacerbate their oddities, turning them into mythological monstrosities. Rendered in an "Art Nouveau" style, these are brutal depictions of what could only be in reality a visual hallucination. This stylized snakehead is directly inspired by decorative grilles on the mezzanine floor of an office building in the city of Zurich built in the early 20th century.
